Buildlog Laser cutter progress

As most of you know I like to have my hands in a lot of things at once. This is one of the many projects that has been tucked in the back of my closet, for I'd say just about a year. I thought it would be good to get this finished. This is a chassis of an open sourced laser cutter called the, "Buildlog." I started it back in college in hopes that by the time I graduated I would have a fully functional "DCRL(Digital Craft Research Lab)" equipped with a 3D printer, CNC router, and Laser cutter. Well I covered two of them and have built a few 3d printer and one CNC router, but the laser cutter is proving to be a more difficult beast to tackle.

A few weeks ago I got this honeycomb grate in from LightObject, a supplier of anything laser cutter related. They sell optics, power supplies, and CO2 tubes of various wattages for your custom builds.

More close ups of the various components. I just about have all the adjustable bed laid out. I found out after the fact that I will have to shorten the bed I ordered by approximately an inch or so to fit into the workspace.
