Enamel Samples

Yvette told me one day she would teach me how to enamel, which is the process of heating up powdered glass up to a high temperature. The final product is a piece that has a glossy sheen after the powder melts and slumps to a uniform consistency. Its a really fascinating process that is used in the automotive industry occasionally for high end products. In fact, one of the things that I love about the old BMW motorcycles is that the emblem on the side of the tank is actually enameled.

Above, I used a knock out punch to cut all these perfect circles. These circles will be used as tests to try and get my feet wet as I learn enameling.

Stay tuned!
