August and Donovon were the first ones up to race for the night. As you can see from the photo above, August just narrowly escapes from a two bike pile up.
Last year almost to the day, August broke his hand when a bikes engine seized right as he was trailing behind causing him to get tangled up in the crash. I am sure his parents(who watched from the sidelines) were very happy to see him have a clean race.
August in 2nd, Donovon in 4th going into turn one. Shortly after this photo was taken Donovon lost spark to his BSA and came to a slow start. When we got back to the pit area, Donovon was already frantically working on fixing his bike. Somehow the wire leading from the Ignition Coil to the condensor coil completely ripped off and was hanging loose. Luckily, Donovon knows some of the other Vintage BSA guys and was able to snag a brand new condensor and points to quickly make the swap.
Overall August got 3rd in the main event, while Donovon and Sophie had to leave early in order to get back home because they were racing a 2 hour hare scramble the next day. I am very proud of August and Donovon for racing against all of those fast bikes in the Vintage/Twins class.
Stay tuned!
